This course is to develop an understanding of the fundamentals of income property finance and investment. We will develop a framework for assessing, evaluating and structuring a real estate financing based upon the characteristics and the risk profile of the asset. Participants will learn to evaluate real estate and properly analyze a financing transaction for an office building, apartment complex, industrial building and a retail center. We will assess the quality of an investment, understand appraisal methodology and develop an appropriate structure for financing the project. We will include a discussion of the real estate capital markets, including traditional financial sources as well as securitization.
